About Us

“Tranquil, uplifting and inspiring – time spent at GreenAcres is time well spent.”

You’ll find things are different at GreenAcres Living Memorial Parks. Death is part of life, so we create beautiful, natural spaces in British woodlands and landscapes that help people come to terms with loss. You won’t find rows of headstones in our Parks. Instead, you’ll be uplifted by the power of nature and given the space you need to reconnect with loved ones.

We aim to help people live through loss more easily and completely by providing a comforting place to reflect and continue the memory of those who have passed away. GreenAcres offers a premium parkland experience that eases the pain of death through the celebration of life and helps the living move forward more positively with hope. We know that many people get great comfort from the ritual of visiting their loved one’s final resting place. Our memorial options offer unique places to reflect on the lives of loved ones, giving families the opportunity to create modern rituals, establish habits of remembrance and embark on a pilgrimage to connect with those who have died.

Regardless of your faith, beliefs and cultural practices, GreenAcres is a place where you can pay tribute to the person who’s died in a way that’s best for you.

“From our first visit, the team were professional, friendly, caring, thoughtful, helpful and informative. A difficult process was made so very easy.”

The GreenAcres team are with you from the moment you make that first call, helping you make the right choices to celebrate the life of the person you love. But there’s no rush. We know it’s the little things that make the difference. So, we’ll pay meticulous attention to every detail. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone is welcome. Please get in touch to talk through your options.

Sustainability

To protect the environment and build towards the long-term net zero carbon emissions target, we make every day small steps. We offer people simple solutions for more sustainably conscious funeral choices which means people ensure they care for the planet, as well as their loved ones. A funeral creates a permanent memory of the loved one, but it doesn’t need to leave a negative impact on the environment.

We enhance biodiversity through carefully managing our Parks and the landscaping we introduce.

As an example, we are introducing bee hives into our Parks. Bees are important for pollination, greater growth of fruit trees and other shrubs, which in turn support birds and other wildlife in our Parks.

We prioritise sustainability in the construction of our facilities by selecting environmentally-friendly options. Where possible, we choose no-dig roads, use natural materials for pathways, and avoid imported stone and plastic as much as we can. Instead, we opt for locally sourced materials.

We work with partners who share our commitment to sustainability. Where possible, we utilise electric rather than gas cremators, reducing carbon emissions by up to 90% with every cremation. If an electric cremator isn’t available within a reasonable distance of our Parks, we will use the nearest facility with spare capacity, rather than building another.

The GreenAcres Choice

It’s important to GreenAcres that we have a positive impact on the world, so customers have choice and confidence that we’re making a difference.

We are living our values by putting sustainability at the heart of how we do business, creating funeral, burial, and cremation options with a ‘one planet’ mind-set. And, taking action to improve lives and communities through our work. We’re committed to giving back.

We are working with our suppliers to reduce emissions right across our supply chains, in line with our target to reduce carbon emissions by 80% for 2035.

We will continue to reduce and eventually neutralise any remaining emissions to achieve net zero for our entire business by 2050. This commitment goes hand in hand with our efforts to protect water resources, regenerate the earth, and preserve forests and woodlands.

The GreenAcres Trust

It’s important that we continue to support you, your extended family and descendants long after the funeral. To help deliver this pledge, we’ve established The GreenAcres Trust – a trust dedicated to the long-term provision of bereavement services comprised of a burial fund and a maintenance fund for each of our Living Memorial Parks.

Maintenance Fund

Every time someone is buried or their ashes are placed in a GreenAcres Park, we pay a sum of money into a special bank account which can only be accessed by us under certain conditions. The trustees determine whether those conditions have been met and are responsible for releasing the funds to GreenAcres. Together with the trustees, we regularly review the amount of money put into the account for each burial. This ensures there will be enough money to take care of the Parks for generations to come, even without future income.

Burial Fund

When someone pre-purchases a burial or memorial plot in preparation for the future, monies from the sale are paid into a protected fund. This money is reserved for the specific customer of the advance purchased plot and can only be used for their burial. In the extremely unlikely event that there’s extra money in a Park’s maintenance fund after all its needs are met, it will either be used to maintain another GreenAcres Park or given to charity.

Industry Memberships

We are members of the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM), Society of Allied Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF), National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD).

That means we’re independently assessed by national organisations that monitor our standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do we arrange a funeral at a GreenAcres Park?

If you are recently bereaved, your first point of contact is usually your Funeral Director. They’ll be able to liaise with us to organise a date for your service. However, we always invite families to visit a GreenAcres Park before they make any decision so they can take a look around, and discuss what they’d like to happen on the day of the service. You’ll also be able to select a plot at the park, after which, we’ll confirm all the details and coordinate the arrangements with your Funeral Director.

Does there need to be a religious service?

No. It’s entirely up to you. Our multi-faith Service Halls are for both religious and non-religious services. We pride ourselves on our relationships with both the local clergy and the local independent celebrant team, ensuring that we meet the requirements of both the religious and non-religious community. Our grounds aren’t consecrated, but individual graves can be blessed if you wish.

Can people be buried together?

All our full burial and ashes plots are double depth. This allows for the plot to be used by a second person in the future, perhaps a close family member or loved one. But there’s no obligation to use the second burial space.

Can I bring my dog to the Park with me?

Yes, we are dog friendly – we love meeting your dogs! We kindly ask for dogs to be kept on a lead in our Parks.

What payment options do you have?

All burials have to be paid in full before the funeral can take place. You can pay via credit, debit card, or by bank transfer. If you’re planning ahead, please speak to a member of our team about our instalment plan.

“What a beautiful, peaceful resting place. My husband is surrounded by trees, and flowers. Every day, birds come by to sing, squirrels are running and dancing around the place. And, when the sun is out GreenAcres resembles paradise.”
“It has been an eye-opener for the rest of my family and friends who attended how different funerals and final resting places can be. Mum loved the natural world, and all said how fitting and perfect it was for her and how soothed they felt by the environment – and I know we’ve made the right choice.”
“A beautiful, peaceful and tranquil place to lay loved ones to rest. The whole experience helped me through the grief of losing my Nan. Cannot recommend this lovely place enough and it offers so much help in the saddest time.”
